The second annual Christmas turkey of the game award goes to Gunner Gislason. Even though the Aardvarks outshone the Comrades tonight, Gunner was not his usual self…recording a season low -3 in tonight’s affair.
Associate Captain Gunner Gislason begins his quest to win back-to-back league and provincial championships on Sunday October 22nd 2017 at 19:15 at the Arborg and District Arena. Tickets are available at the front door for $5, but if Gislason is your favourite Aardvark, admission is free!
The 2016-17 Interlake Recreational Hockey League Goal of the Year goes to the Aardvarks’ own Cory Johannesson.
There were many candidates for this year’s award, but none could compete with Johannesson’s low five-hole thriller. The fan favourite started off in his own end, out manoeuvring all five Fussy Puckers with his lightning fast speed, finishing things off with his signature move to lead the Aardvarks to victory.
The first annual Christmas turkey of the game award goes to Jayde Barkman. Although Barkman had a tough go against the Brewsers tonight, the Aardvarks bailed him out for the ‘W’.
The Aardvarks have stripped the captaincy from Gunner Gislason because of his off-ice shenanigans late last night. He was caught, numerous times, ringing strangers doorbells without invitation. The Aardvarks believe his actions were immoral.
The Aardvarks have now awarded their perennial 50 goal scorer, Cory Johannesson, the ‘C’ for next season.
The Arborg Aardvarks have acquired Jayde Barkman from the Riverton Rifles to replace Mack Marks between the pipes. Barkman made some critical saves in his first game as an Aardvark, stopping 59 shots in the 15-11 victory over the Riverton Pointers.
You can catch Barkman and the Aardvarks in action this Sunday at 7:30pm in the Arborg Arena when they face off against the Arborg Comrades.
