December 2016 report

The Aardvarks had a sluggish December, posting a 1-2-1 record. The absence of Lana Kecovich, the best dressed Aardvark, and Jason Gulay, the Aardvark that gets it done,  for two of the four games greatly reflected the month’s outcomes. The Aardvarks are determined to get back to their winning ways in the new year.

“Which Aardvark would have the best chance at winning CBC’s Canada’s Smartest Person” poll results

Congratulations to Aardvark’s defenceman, Jon Finnson, on receiving 29% of the votes for which Aardvark would have the best chance at winning ‘CBC’s Canada’s Smartest Person’.

Even though the Aardvarks are one of the wittiest teams in the IRHL, Finnson’s IQ is unrivalled. Finnson is the only player in the IRHL to hold a degree from the University of John Deere and outsmarts the top guns around the league with his precise positioning. There is a rumour that Finnson and Pointers smart guy Mitchell Johnson are going to go head-to-head for the ultimate challenge of intellectual supremacy, a Spelling Bee.

Thanks to all of those that participated. Make sure to cast your vote in the next Aardvark poll.

Christmas Turkey of the Game Award

The first annual Christmas turkey of the game award goes to Jayde Barkman. Although Barkman had a tough go against the Brewsers tonight, the Aardvarks bailed him out for the ‘W’.

guessthataardvarklogo

How it works…simple…we ask a series of questions to a particular Aardvark…you examine their answers…and you tell us who it is! If you guess that Aardvark correctly, you will receive a complimentary autograph!

Need a reminder of our players? Have a look at the roster.

OK…here we go!

Interviewer: Rate the following activities in order from most important to least important: shovelling snow, hockey, drinking milk, grocery shopping and watching TV.

Aardvark in question: Hockey, watching TV, shovelling snow, grocery shopping, drinking milk. Milk is for children not grown men!

Interviewer: What is your favourite pre-rec game meal?

Aardvark in question: A nice thick salami sandwich, one cheese slice and mustard – pure gold.

Interviewer:  How many times do you tape your stick in a rec hockey season?

Aardvark in question: I tape my stick every three games. I see guys taping their blades before every game. Kinda gets me thinking, those guys are made of money. Totally unnecessary.

Interviewer: What Aardvark ‘AP’ is most likely to crack the line-up on a full time basis?

Aardvark in question: I have a feeling one day Scott Bobbee will come to his senses and suit up full time for the ‘Varks and ditch those aging old Shooters.

Interviewer: What member of the Aardvarks reminds you most of a NHLer from  past or present?

Aardvark in question: I have two guys for this one, first off our newcomer Travis Bobbee reminds me of a young Rob Blake, a solid D man and I know he wouldn’t be scared to throw out a dirty hip check if the game was out of hand. And second, it has be Cory. He reminds me of Alexander Burmistrov, ton of skill but no brains!.

Interviewer: Which Aardvark should be the most concerned during next month’s trade deadline?

Aardvark in question: The way Cory has been playing as of late I definitely think he’s gotta be worried. He’s just not finishing like he should be, I think age is catching up to him

Interviewer: If the Aardvarks could afford a Christmas getaway, where would they go?

Aardvark in question: Vegas, definitely Vegas – gambling, drinking, strippers. Would almost be like heaven for the boys!

Interviewer: What is your least favourite arena to play in? What is your favourite arena to play in?

Aardvark in question: As a kid I dreaded having to play in the old Ashern barn. I would have to say playing in a packed house at the Arborg arena was the most fun atmosphere I played in!

Interviewer: Thank you for your time!

Aardvark in question: No problem.
